Nissa Revane, Planeswalker: one of my first pieces of fan art, and also my first foray into Unreal Engine 5.

For a full breakdown of this project, check out my two part blog series at https://www.artstation.com/blogs/colinnitta/RjV3/the-making-of-nissa-revane-part-1

Since I was seven years old, Magic has been a fixture in my life and was an early exposure to fantasy art. I recall many afternoons spent leafing through piles of beautifully illustrated cards letting my imagination run wild. Although Nissa Revane has been illustrated by several artists, I primarily used the work of Wesley Burt as my concept: https://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&name=+[Nissa]&artist=+[%22Wesley%20Burt%22]

I decided to jump into UE5 with this one to take advantage of the exciting possibilities of lumen and nanite. I used a mid-poly approach for the model. Hair was modeled with cards using Hair Tool for Blender and the method honed by Johan Lithvall. The stage is built from Quixel Megascans. Eyes are from the UE4 Content Example pack.

Modeled in ZBrush and Marvelous Designer, retopology and UV's in Blender, bake and textures in Substance Painter, rendered in Unreal Engine 5. Eleven 4k texture sets plus hair. Many thanks to my fellow artists that offered guidance and support :)
